The team of Telia Solutions for Media works every day to develop larger or smaller features for improving the functionality of the Telia online video platform (OVP) and to provide a comfortable and enjoyable user experience for every customer. Read on to find out what the new functions of the Telia video platform are.
NEW FEATURES IN THE MEDIA SECTION AND TRANSCODING PROCESS
New options in the transcoding settings – new setting options are available for the transcoding process, which allows the customer to define and control the transcoding process individually, achieving the best transcoding result according to the client’s needs. A very important feature has also been introduced – transcoding queue prioritization for different media categories – three priority levels can be assigned to each category, e.g., to prioritize the fresh content transcoding over large back catalog processing.
Workflow Profile (settings for ingesting and transcoding process) updates – added new settings defining content availability times – set publishing to start and end time for the video assets as in the purchased content license, delete source files after transcoding to save on storage costs, or delete all video content when the streaming license is over.
New video file upload feature directly in the browser – use your browser to upload the video files directly into the platform. Convenient when you want a simple way and don’t have an FTP software.
Editorial metadata support – the new feature allows one to import, edit and publish editorial metadata, which is descriptive information, such as a description of the topic mentioned in the content, its content, images, and additional materials attached – pdf files, photos, etc. Use the metadata in your subscriber web portal or apps afterward.
NEW FEATURES OF LIVE STREAMING
The live stream recording system has been supplemented with various new features for user convenience, such as:
SRT (Secure Reliable Transfer) protocol support for the live stream ingest and restreaming to other platforms – we support SRT protocol throughout the live broadcast infrastructure, which guarantees a more stable ingest and delivery process, when which is important when streamed over regular internet with non-guaranteed speed and quality.
New content protection options for live video broadcasts:
• Stream keys – to guarantee stream protection, especially when several different teams work on the same channel at different times, the platform user may assign individual streaming key codes to each team changing them after each team stops streaming;
• Time-limited preview page – send a time-limited preview page link to the viewers, set the validity time interval yourself.
New reports provide detailed information about the usage of the platform.
Usage report – information on consumed volumes which will be used for billing – video storage volume, CDN data traffic volume, recording volume, transcoded video volume, number of viewers, etc.
Transcoding and upload report – detailed video transcoding statistics with many details of the process.
SUPPORT FOR AUTOMATED MESSAGE QUEUES
Automated message queues make it easier to integrate customers’ or third-party systems which receive notifications on data and process status changes. Our platform supports AMQP, STOPM and MQTT protocols, which can be used to send messages to Amazon SQS, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ and other similar systems, allowing the customer to fully automate content processing and publishing processes. For example, if a video is published on the video platform (its status is changed), the client’s public portal automated CMS immediately receives a notification, reads the video data from our API and publishes it automatically on the portal.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS INTEGRATION UPDATED
Additional events have been added to provide more detailed information about user habits, such as how long the particular video has been watched, and additional content fields for more extensive analysis.
